Want a 2026 camp that actually puts people on ONE cards, hosts UFC seminars, or gets champions through the door? Here is how that feels week to week, and which Phuket neighborhood fits.

What a famous-fighter gym is actually like

Useful if you want a serious room. Easy to misunderstand if you came for a holiday photo.

People book Tiger or Bangtao because they saw Valentina Shevchenko, Anatoly Malykhin, or Royce Gracie attached to the gym. Fair. Those visits are real. Your week still looks like everyone else's: morning run or skip, pads, bag, maybe light sparring if the coach likes your attitude.

The difference is the room. In Chalong, you share space with people cutting weight for ONE Friday Fights or Fight Night. Sessions can feel faster. Coaches are used to fighters, not only holiday weeks. In Bang Tao, the draw is often a seminar weekend: Chingiz Allazov, Khalil Rountree Jr., Nico Carrillo. You train your normal camp, then maybe buy a clinic ticket if one lands during your stay.

That is still a good reason to book. Just do not plan the trip around standing next to a champion. Ask the gym who teaches visitors, how hard sparring is in week one, and whether a seminar is actually on the calendar.

Shevchenko and Daniil Donchenko spent time at Tiger Muay Thai in Chalong. Malykhin and Tang Kai fought out of the same gym on ONE Fight Night. Stella Hemetsberger, Lucas Gabriel, and Panpayak Jitmuangnon came through Phuket Fight Club. Bang Tao had the seminar circus: Allazov, Rountree, Gracie, plus a Dieselnoi visit. That is the flavor of camp, not a promise they are there the week you land.

Where to stay in Phuket if you want this kind of camp

Same island, four different weeks. Pick the neighborhood before you fall in love with a logo.

Almost every gym below is in Phuket. That is not an accident. The island has the ONE cards, the seminar circuit, and enough gyms that you can still choose a vibe. Use the Phuket training hub for stadiums and upcoming fights, and the Phuket lifestyle page if beaches and food matter as much as pads.

  • Chalong: central, scooter-friendly, closest to the fight-camp rhythm. Best if you want to feel the ONE week without living on Bangla.
  • Bang Tao: west coast, lagoon beaches, seminar weekends. Good if you want a nicer evening and still a serious gym.
  • Rawai: south island, quieter nights, easier long stay. Fine if you still want a gym that has put someone on a ONE card.
  • Patong: sleep here only if nightlife is the point. Train in Chalong or Rawai and come in for the stadium.

Tiger, Phuket Fight Club, and Lions. This is the neighborhood for people who like a busy room.

Chalong sits between the south beaches and town. You can scooter to Rawai or Patong without making it your whole personality. Tiger is the big international camp: Malykhin and Tang Kai on ONE Fight Night, Shevchenko in for a training block, plus a string of Friday Fights names. Phuket Fight Club is the other heavy room: Stella Hemetsberger, Lucas Gabriel, Panpayak, Allycia Hellen Rodrigues. Lions MMA is smaller, and still put Dzhabir Dzhabrailov on Fight Night 42. Rawai: book this if you want a quieter week

South Phuket. Still a training town, just less of a scene.

Rawai is the long-stay default: food, monthly rooms, Nai Harn for a swim. It is not Chalong. The famous-name list is shorter, and that is the point for a lot of people. Great stadium nights. Not where the 2026 champion camps are based.

Stay in Patong if you want Bangla after training. For the gyms in this guide, base in Chalong (easy ride) or Rawai (quieter, longer taxi). Then use Patong for the card: Bangla Boxing Stadium, Patong Boxing Stadium, a tourist night done properly. Check upcoming events and stadium pages before you buy tickets from a tout on the strip.

  • Tell the gym your real level. A camp that corners ONE fighters can still take beginners, but morning rounds may be sharper than a retreat gym.
  • If you booked because of a seminar, ask for the next date in writing. One weekend with Royce Gracie or Chingiz Allazov is not a weekly class.
  • Ask who holds pads for visitors. Famous names often have their own coaches and a closed session.
